The Senior Manager, Academic Alliances is critical to Splunk - for growing top talent today for the benefit of society tomorrow. In this role you will be held responsible for strategically building partnerships with Schools, Colleges/Universities, Learning Organizations, and Government and Professional Associations to deliver global programs that prepare university faculty and students to thrive with data and Splunk skills and knowledge. To be successful, this individual will need to be an effective partner across Splunk (eg Sales, Customer Success, Legal) and the entire Education organization including Curriculum, Instructor and Operations teams in order to deliver highly impactful offerings that develop the next generation of Data Scientists, Developers, Data Admins, and Data Analysts for which the demand is predicted to grow exponentially in the next decade.
To be successful, this individual must be a skilled relationship manager, able to hold discovery conversations with Academic Institutions from different geographical regions, adapting program requirements to faculty and staff whilst applying strong analytical and technical skills - all aimed at growing Data Analytics, Security and/or Observability skills in learners. Successful candidates will be adept at creating engaging learning offerings that scale globally, and effectively engage faculty and leaders at academic institutions on the benefits and value of learning Splunk and Splunk’s Academic Alliance program. This individual also needs to be highly motivated and a creative self-starter who has built Academic Alliances programs previously and who can apply their successes to Splunk. Innovating and thinking big, executing magnificently, and staying focused on the operational details is key for continued success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Expand and deliver an innovative global Academic Alliances program
- Develop scalable operating plan and measures and supervise all aspects from marketing strategy, communications, demand generation, enrollment, support, and continuous management
- Deliver presentations on Splunk capabilities to the higher education audiences and at academic conferences.
- Work with higher education institutions, faculty, and support personnel and partner across the Splunk education organization to establish a comprehensive library of interactive, authoritatively developed, self-paced, and live learning experiences, including hands-on lab learning environments.
- Develop enabling programs for educators that include access to ongoing training materials and support.
- Be the face of Splunk in establishing a multi-faceted and positive relationship with university faculty and internal stakeholders and contributors.
- Own stretch targets to significantly increase reach, scale, and growth of the program.
- Bring thought leadership and best practices to the continued improvement of the Academic Alliance program
Qualifications:
- 10+ years handling higher education academic programs for technical domains or SaaS
- Experience launching a large-scale academic program and growing it year-over-year.
- 5+ years of direct people management experience with proven ability to develop and lead a high-performing team in a matrix organization
- Ability to effectively communicate program value, benefits and curriculum offering details internally and externally as well as be conversant in a variety of topics directly related to higher education.
- Ability to develop and maintain strong, positive relationships with deans and faculty for top Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Sciences, and Engineering programs, as well as partners and internal stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of learning - from effective design to delivery operations including Learning Management Systems (LMS), content management systems, lab delivery systems, and related platforms and systems needed to support course delivery.
- Experience defining content strategies for programs including instructor-led and digital delivery modalities.
- Experience negotiating contracts with universities and educational institutions
- Able to proactively identify risks and remove obstacles to keep the program on track.
- Experience leading cross-functional projects to successful results.
- Strong presentation, written, communication, and negotiation skills.

Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out below, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for incentive compensation and may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.

Base Pay Range
SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area
Base Pay Range: $156,000.00 - 214,500.00 per year
California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts
Base Pay Range: $142,400.00 - 195,800.00 per year
All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area.
Base Pay Range: $129,600.00 - 178,200.00 per year
