Senior Technical Training Developer
The Engineering Enablement & Education team is responsible for addressing the technical learning and knowledge needs of all engineers that develop Splunk products. The programs and solutions delivered by the team enable technical productivity and engineers’ growth to meet career goals. Our team’s goal is to build an extraordinary engineering organization through learning and knowledge sharing. Programs and solutions delivered by the team include technical onboarding, Tech Talks, internal technical documentation, code labs, technical training classes, and hackathons.
We’re seeking a Senior Technical Training Developer who will be a force multiplier to upskill thousands of engineers by analyzing, designing, implementing, and delivering extraordinary learning and knowledge sharing programs. This role is critical to help the team scale and will influence the shape of the knowledge sharing culture at the company.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Learn from our engineers to understand how Splunk products work and how our software is crafted, developed, tested, and deployed
- Follow instructional design best practices to analyze knowledge gaps, assess training needs, and develop engaging live or self-paced learning programs
- Create and maintain classroom content, labs, and codebases
- Teach one or more technical classes
- Assess the efficiency of learning programs and how they have impacted productivity and business objectives
- Act as a consultant to stakeholders to provide the most effective ways to improve learning, technical documentation, and knowledge sharing within their organizations
- Manage the delivery of training programs crafted by yourself or others
- Develop or maintain tools that optimize training delivery and operations
- Foster a culture of learning that promotes inclusion and diversity in our teams, interactions, and learning models
Who You Are and What Makes You Qualified:
- Demonstrated ability to learn technical concepts
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a diverse group of technical subject-matter experts to build, maintain and deliver technical content
- Experience developing software in C++, Java, Python, Javascript, or similar programming languages
- Experience in technical curriculum development, technical writing, or delivering live classroom training
- Understanding of how software engineers learn and acquire new skills and knowledge
- Experience with elearning or video editing tools such as Articulate Storyline, Rise, Camtasia, Vyond, Descript
- Ability to assess knowledge gaps and learning needs through various data points
- Knowledge of Learning Management Systems
- Ability to optimally collaborate with geographically distributed teams
Education:
Minimum of 5+ years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in computer science or a related field.
