Splunk is looking for a Senior Director of Sales Engineering to lead the tactical and strategic direction of the Strategic Americas SEs in the East Sub-Theater. This is an executive leadership position focused on overachieving revenue targets, in excess of $270M annually, delivering a world class level of customer experience as well as recruiting, hiring, and developing an industry leading technical leadership team for the East Sub-Theater. The candidate chosen for this role will work cross functionally within Splunk and across the partner community to promote and influence strategic product direction, drive competitive differentiation and nurture a transparent, collaborative SE community. This SE leader will partner closely with sales leadership and customer success to build and reinforce durable customer relationships built off of value realization and impactful, differentiated customer solutions. Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Named Americas East Sub-Theater Sales Engineering organization focused on driving high levels of engagement and performance
  • Deliver consistent, foundational, creative Sales Engineering activities needed to meet and exceed quarterly and annual sales targets
  • Ensure the organization develops and maintains a catalog of Sales Engineering services, with repeatable, scalable artifacts anchored by measurable SLAs and KPIs.
  • Work closely with executive Sales leadership and Sales teams to develop strategic and technical territory and account plans, along with technical tools/programs to support sales campaigns and initiatives
  • Lead performance and key talent ensuring that we are taking the necessary actions to attract and retain top talent, further develop a rich and diverse workforce, and manage performance at all levels
  • Jointly own customer success, leveraging best practice and focus to ensure your customers are successful addressing their business challenges.
  • Work collaboratively with support, product management, engineering, and other organizations to ensure alignment with your Named Americas Strategic East Sub-Theater and provide process and product feedback, and resolve critical customer situations and ensure your organization is representing the voice of the customer to these organizations inside Splunk

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of Sales Engineering Leadership experience, including prior experience leading second-line Directors, first-line Managers and Individual Contributing SEs
  • Experience working in the Enterprise Security (SIEM, SOAR, MITRE ATT&CK Framework, Threat, etc.) or the Observability (APM, RUM, Synthetics, Infrastructure) markets is preferred
  • Experience selling and working with pure cloud-based solutions
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and/or Microsoft Azure is preferred, and Solution Architect certifications are a bonus
  • Technically curious, and able to articulate the value that technology brings to solving customer problems
  • Previously led SE organizations larger than 50 people, and over $100M a year in quota coverage
  • Proven executive communication skills – written and oral. Ability to communicate complex ideas cross functionally across all levels both internally and externally
  • Ability to lead diverse groups of people and able to challenge and develop the team to exceed their goals both personally and professionally

Please note that the On Target Earnings (OTE) ranges are guidelines and for candidates who receive an offer, the OTE pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out below, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to OTE, this role may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.

OTE Pay Ranges

For sales roles the ranges are expressed as On Target Earning or OTE (OTE = base + incentives in the form of sales incentive plans).

SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area

On Target Earnings: $304,000.00 - 418,000.00 per year

California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), New York (excludes NYC Metro Area), and all other states.

On Target Earnings: $300,000.00 - 412,500.00 per year
