We are looking for a commercial counsel to provide legal support for Splunk's sales
objectives in the APAC theater. You will be in charge of Splunk’s commercial legal
requirements which include supporting sales, customer success and partner teams on software
licensing, cloud subscription, sales channels and other technology sales agreements, as well
as a variety of commercial transactions to support Splunk’s international growth. You will
contribute to process improvements, initiatives and playbooks to help scale for growth and
reduce contract life-cycle time, and partner with legal team members and other business
functions to drive business objectives. This role will report to the Director, APAC
Commercial (Legal) based in Singapore.

drive initiatives to conclusion independently and accurately. You will be able to work
successfully in a fast-paced environment across various functions, time zones and cultures.

Responsibilities
- Act as the legal contact for Splunk’s activities in APAC theater with a focus on Asia division and other sales divisions as needed;
- Build internal and external relationships while balancing the needs in Splunk’s Asia division with Splunk’s global strategy and priorities;
- Provide knowledge of aspects of applicable laws, concerning commercial terms including but not limited to data privacy/governance, cybersecurity, and contracts with public sector and financial services customers;
- Focus primarily on drafting and the mediation of outbound software license, sales channel and alliance sales, cloud service, system integrator, and OEM contracts;
- Anticipate and advise on changes to relevant laws impacting commercial activities and its customers;
- Lead sophisticated commercial transactions, including developing key strategic relationships;
- Provide continuous improvement of standard form agreements, playbooks, contract templates, and legal processes;
- Efficient advise, educate and train on and assist in the enforcement of Splunk’s policies and compliance programs;
- Support and implement strategic initiatives and projects that advance Splunk’s business objectives; and perform responsibilities as requested
- Law degree with excellent academic credentials
- At least 8 years of in-depth experience in enterprise software licensing, SaaS and partner sales transactions
- Licensed to practice law in Singapore or a common law jurisdiction
- Deep substantive transaction experience with complex contract and/or licensing agreements, working with two-tier sales partners and experience working in fast-paced companies are required
- Excellent contract negotiation, presentation and drafting skills
- Outstanding business judgment and the ability to address complex opportunities andissues in creative and effective ways
- Detail-orientation and ability to prioritise multiple transactions and projects simultaneously in a timely-manner
- Previous in-house experience in the legal department of a US-listed company stronglypreferred
- Deep experience in compliance, cybersecurity, data privacy, and intellectual property matters
- Written and spoken fluency in English and one other Asian language
- Integrity, professionalism, superb communication skills and a team player
