Software Engineer Intern - QA
The Opportunity
Are you a proactive and innovative software engineer with a passion for automation and a desire to make a significant impact on engineering efficiency? If so, joining our team as a Software Engineer Intern - QA will provide you with the unique opportunity to work on the cutting-edge "Trias" AI tool, allowing you to directly contribute to reducing test triage time from days to minutes while gaining valuable mentorship and experience in a collaborative environment.
About the Team
You will join the R&D Product Systems QA team at our San Jose headquarters, where you won't just run tests—you will help build the "Trias" AI automation tool that revolutionizes them. Reporting to a Senior Engineering Manager dedicated to your growth, you will work in a collaborative culture where "1 plus 1 is always greater than 2," tackling real-world challenges in "Intelligent Operations" and AI deployment. This is a hybrid role requiring three days onsite per week, ensuring you have direct access to architects and leadership to support your success in this high-visibility project, with no travel required.
Your Role
- Collaborate closely with the project architect to support the development and refinement of the dashboard interface (front-end development)
- Validate AI accuracy to ensure the "Triage" tool correctly assigns responsibility for automated test failures. Enhance selection algorithms and DB search for optimal results (Backend development)
- Utilize proficiency in Python to write and execute automation scripts for efficient testing processes.
- Maintain clear, open communication with engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and documentation of automation scripts.
- Drive technical execution by actively engaging in all phases of testing and validation to meet aggressive project timelines.
- Facilitate knowledge transfer and documentation to ensure a smooth handoff of the project upon completion of the internship.
What You Will Bring
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without requiring current or future sponsorship for employment visa status, such as an F-1, H-1 B, or TN visa.
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
- Proficiency in Python for scripting and automation tasks.
- Basic knowledge of UI development and JavaScript for dashboard integration.
- Strong analytical skills to validate AI accuracy and output.
- Experience with software testing and execution of test plans.
- Ability to work effectively within a diverse engineering team.
- Familiarity with AI and automation concepts in software development.
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong communication skills for clear documentation and teamwork.
Work Arrangement
Hybrid: This role operates in a hybrid capacity, blending the benefits of remote work with the advantages of in-person collaboration. In locations where our workplace policy applies (i.e., San Jose, Durham, Mexico City, Bangalore, Pune, Hoofddorp, Belgrade, Barcelona, Singapore, Sydney, and Tokyo), employees are expected to work onsite a minimum of 3 days per week to foster collaboration, team alignment, and access to in-office resources. Workplace type may vary based on location and team requirements. Please speak with your recruiter for details. Additional team-specific guidance and norms will be provided by your manager.
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $ 36 and USD $ 60 per year.
However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
